It’s been nearly four years since the Canadian electro-funk duo Chromeo released a new album. But just yesterday, the duo dropped an album teaser trailer featuring taut legs, bright red heels, and a tantalizing new beat. This isn’t the first time Chromeo has used cinematic teaser trailers to announce an upcoming project. Back in 2014, they announced their project White Women with a snippet of the album’s first single “Over Your Shoulder”.
In their new album trailer, directed by David Wilson, we see Chromeo strutting their stuff to a new, fun, and flirtatious beat. The snippet belongs to “Juice“, a new song that the duo has said will arrive Friday, November 7th. Near the end of the trailer, the camera spans up from Chromeo standing in power pose, to their famed logo, to the new album title, Head Over Heels. You can check out the full album trailer for Head Over Heels below.
Though it’s been four years since Chromeo dropped an LP, we think their forthcoming album will be met warmly, as electronic, dance heavy music continues to trend in the pop genre. For their last effort White Women, Chromeo released music videos featuring the likes of Haim, Toro y Moi, and Jon Heder. Who knows what sort of stunts Chromeo has planned for the release of Head Over Heels, but we think it’s safe to say the rollout will be momentous.
Chromeo hasn’t been completely dormant since the release of White Women. Back in May, the duo released a hypnotic and addictive remix of Lorde’s “Green Light“, one of many hit singles from Melodrama. Chromeo’s “Green Light” remix is carefully laid and brings out the groove inherent to Lorde’s raucous dance track. The remix perfectly encapsulates Chromeo’s affinity for pop turned classical funk.
Be on the look out for the full version of “Juice“, in addition to a new music video featuring Dave 1 and P-Thugg. We’re not sure exactly when you can count on Head Over Heels to arrive, but according to the album trailer, the record is “coming soon”.
