Eminem is adding Firefly to his festival-hopping summer. He’ll also be headlining Coachella and Bonnaroo, just to name a few other big ones. He just released the single “Chloraseptic” this year and his album Revival in 2017, but we’re crossing our fingers that he’ll play some of the old school favorites too. #momsspaghetti
Kendrick Lamar, who is basically hip hop’s leading man right now, is starting off the summer at Firefly too. He just produced the soundtrack to Black Panther, so we can only hope to hear a few new jams as well as the very sing-along-able hits like “Humble.” He’s been at Firefly before, way before he was so huge, so it’s awesome that he’s coming back for an encore.
The big news: It’s the first official tour date for the Arctic Monkeys since 2014. Fans are hoping this means there’ll be new music on the horizon for the British band. They actually played the festival four years ago, and everybody is anxiously awaiting their return.
The Killers are also playing lots of festivals this summer and Firefly is no exception. As one of the original Firefly headliners from back in the day, they’ve performed on this stage multiple times and they never disappoint. This super hip rock band is sure to have fans screaming along to “Mr. Brightside” among other hits.
Aside from just the headliners, the other performers – ya know, the ones in smaller print on the festival poster – are pretty amazing too. There’s rap royalty on the agenda for the weekend like Lil’ Wayne and newcomer Logic.
And it wouldn’t be a summer music festival without plenty of electronic and dance music. Firefly’s got Odesza as well popular DJ Martin Garrix who’s responsible for writing and producing hits for other artists. Mike D of the Beastie Boys will also be performing a DJ set.
We’re not sure if there will be any surprise collaborations, but female R&B artist SZA will be performing. Her best-known singles feature Kendrick Lamar (hint, hint), Travis Scott, and Calvin Harris.
We’ll also hear from Portugal. The Man, the psychedelic rock band from Alaska who you’ve probably only heard of recently because of their smash hit “Feel It Still” (even though they’ve been around for a while). Maybe study up on their other tunes if you wanna sing along.

Looking for some awesome new indie artists too? There’s no shortage of those at Firefly. You’ll be able to see singer-songwriters Alex Lahey and Lucy Dacus as well as Middle Kids.
Expect the whole weekend to be packed with fab music, including performances by lesser-known bands on Thursday. Even if you haven’t heard of them, Firefly is a great chance discover new artists.
But we haven’t even touched on half of the bands that’ll be performing at Firefly. Be sure to check out the full lineup for 2018 here.
Past Firefly Lineups
Looking back on past lineups, you can see a lot of repeat performers who keep coming back to Firefly (ah, The Killers). The festival itself seems to be a good predictor of what’s going to be popular in the future (lookin’ at you, Portugal. The Man) with lesser known artists making their way up the poster from fine print to larger print as the years progress. Here’s a glance at a few lineups from years past…
The Weeknd, Bob Dylan, Chance The Rapper, Muse, Twenty One Pilots
Kesha, Franz Ferdinand, O.A.R., T-Pain, Busta Rhymes, Weezer, Glass Animals, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Shins…
Okay, you know Firefly appeals to a huge range of ages and fan demographics when they can just casually throw Bob Dylan in there as a headliner amidst all those other artists. This was a truly impressive lineup of legendary rock n’ roll, rap, pop, indie, you name it – 2017 had it all.

Your man @ludacris at last years @fireflymusicfestival going off around noon. Hopefully i get to see him again at @lostlakefest come october in #phx #jeffschaermoses #jeffmoses #jeffschaermosesphotography #ludacris #dtp #firefly #firefly2016 #fireflymusicfestival #concertphotography #musicphotography #music #concert #musicfestival #goodmusic #kingofthesouth
Kings of Leon, Mumford & Sons, Deadmau5, Florence & The Machine
Ludacris, Major Lazer, Blink 182, Earth Wind & Fire, Ellie Goulding, Death Cab for Cutie, Fetty Wap…
This year was a little more niche with its headliners, featuring popular yet indie and folk bands, along with electronic and house DJ Deadmau5. But the other artists were on fire too, like Ellie Goulding, Ludacris, and the oh so trap rap Fetty Wap (who was 30 minutes late, driving fans crazy), plus throwbacks like Blink 182 and way-back throwbacks like Earth Wind & Fire. What a mix!
Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon, The Killers
Morrissey, Foster the People, Snoop Dogg, Modest Mouse, Bastille, Kid Cudi, Steve Aoki, Spoon, The Chainsmokers…
Having Paul McCartney headline the festival was a bold move, but the 73-year-old packed the place with fans of all ages as he played two and a half hours of hits by the Beatles, Wings, and well, himself. Then you had the always rocking Kings of Leon as well as great rap artists like Snoop and Kid Cudi, plus the burgeoning Chainsmokers. All that equals another amazingly fun and well-rounded lineup!
Foo Fighters, Outkast, Jack Johnson
Imagine Dragons, Arctic Monkeys, The Lumineers, Weezer, Pretty Lights, Portugal. The Man, Third Eye Blind, Amos Lee…
Again, a trio of headliners that brought something for everybody. Laid back surfer bro Jack Johnson combined with popular hip-hop duo Outkast and the always rowdy Foo Fighters? Why the heck not?!
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Vampire Weekend, Foster the People, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Alabama Shakes, Ellie Goulding, Avett Brothers, Calvin Harris, MGMT, Passion Pit…
Wow, 2013 was a hell of a lineup considering it was only this festival’s second year! Tom Petty (RIP) is a legend and the Red Hot Chili Peppers always get crowds riled up, but the huge array of other quality artists kept every fanbase happy, from folk to pop to the blues-y festival favorite, the Alabama Shakes.
The Killers, The Black Keys, Jack White
Death Cab for Cutie, John Legend, The Flaming Lips, OK GO, Lupe Fiasco, Cake, Girl Talk
Firefly’s first year showed its youthfulness. Passion Pit canceled at the last minute and there were sound issues during a few shows, but the vibe and the good times kept this new east-coast festival going. This kinda quirky lineup featured a lot of not-so-mainstream rock as well as future Firefly favorites like The Killers and Death Cab for Cutie.
Little did festivalgoers know at the time, this event would go on to become bigger and better year after year! Firefly has only continued to attract more popular artists and 2018’s lineup is no exception!
