Since Pittsburgh-born rapper Mac Miller passed away early this past September, fellow rappers and other members of the music community have come forward expressing their memories and condolences towards Miller’s family, friends, and fans. Now, those who knew and worked with Miller during his short time in the music industry are coming together this Halloween to celebrate his life.
The show, set for Wednesday, October 31 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, will feature Mac’s friends, collaborators and associates. Action Bronson, Anderson.Paak, Chance the Rapper, Earl Sweatshirt, John Mayer, Miguel, Schoolboy Q, SZA, Thundercat, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla $ign, Vince Staples and more, will all be gathering this Hallows Eve to pay homage to their friend.
Mac’s family set up the fund in partnership with Live Nation, and together, they are dedicating all proceeds to MMCF, dedicated to the benefit of youth in under-served communities. Tickets will be available starting October 5 at 10:00 a.m PST.
Mac’s mom, Karen Myers, has praised the artistic community’s support in the wake of her son’s death. “His father, brother and I are beyond thankful to everyone who is working to make this concert happen along with every fan and every friend for continuing to support Malcolm and his vision. He was a caring, loving human with a smile that could light up the sky and a soul that was out to make the world a kinder place and the MMCF will continue to do just that.”
Though the rap community lost a great voice and mind this September, ‘Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life‘ will, at the very least, bring those mourners together for a night of music, benefit, and ultimately: celebration. See the flyer below for more details.
