The sections at Spartan Stadium are numbered with the lower bowl consisting of sections 1-30. The upper sections consist of 105-112 on the visiting team side and 120-127 behind the Michigan State bench. There is also sections C2-C10 which are reserved for the Huntington Bank Club.
The vast majority of seats at the stadium are bleacher seating, meaning no chair backs.
Michigan State Student Sections
The student sections at Spartan Stadium consist of sections 10-14 and 111-112.
Student tickets sell out quickly since only a small portion are allotted to the student body. More importantly, you won’t be able to purchase student section tickets on the secondary market as only currently enrolled MSU students are eligible for these seats.
Spartan Stadium Club Sections
There are two club areas at Michigan States Spartan Stadium. The Stadium Sideline Club is all seats in rows 4-10 (rows 1-3 do not exist in these sections) of sections 7-10 and 22-25. The Stadium Sideline Club is made up of roughly 1,000 green chairback seats between the 20-yard lines. The Huntington Bank Club is made up of 9 private sections with padded extra-wide chairback seats. The Huntington Club seats are open to the stadium but covered and heated during inclement weather. Benefits of the Huntington Club include complimentary buffet food service, a cash bar with beer and wine, and first right-of-refusal for the same seats for any concert or entertainment event held in Spartan Stadium.
Visiting Team Sections
Sections 105, 120, 127, and 4 are the designated visiting team sections at Spartan Stadium. Be aware that the visiting team fans sit in the lower half rows in section 4.
If you are fan of the opposing team and want to sit ensure you sit with your fellow fans, this is where you want to be. If you are an MSU fan, make sure you avoid these sections!
Parking and Tailgating at Spartan Stadium
Michigan State has plenty of parking available on football game days. All parking locations open at 7 a.m. for noon and 1 p.m. kickoffs, 9 a.m. for 3:30 p.m. kickoffs and 1 p.m. for Saturday evening kickoffs. All fans are asked to not come before these times as traffic lineups are not permitted.
- On-campus public game-day parking will be available for $30 at Munn Field (alcohol-free site)
- All other public game-day parking for cars will be available for $20
Tips for tailgating at a Michigan State game:
- Arrive early so you have your pick of parking spot.
- Fan tailgating is allowed in the lots surrounding the stadium starting five hours prior to kickoff.
- Cell service can get spotty, so it’s advised to mark your tailgate with a large (unique) flag so friends and family can find you.
- Open alcohol is permitted on campus during tailgating hours, with the exception of Munn field
- Don’t be in a rush to leave after the game, you are better off finishing your leftovers at your tailgate and waiting for traffic to die down.
Best Seats at Spartan Stadium
As cliche as it is, there really isn’t a bad seat at Spartan Stadium for an MSU game. You can feel the energy of the crowd from all corners of the stadium. But, like any football stadium, the best viewing will come in the sections between the 30 yard lines.
Personally, I prefer sitting near the student section near section 10. There is a contagious energy that spreads from the students to every surrounding section. It makes for a unique game day experience.
