Are you a fan of Electronic Dance Music? Do you enjoy street performances and visual art? Are you looking for an adventurous camping experience to start off the summer? Up until now, the U.S held two big camping EDM festivals in the summer: Electric Forest and Camp Bisco. This year, the longest running electronic music festival in Europe will be coming to the states. Mysteryland Music Festival is coming to upstate New York to make it’s U.S debut. Mysteryland 2014 will be taking place Memorial Day weekend (May 23-26) in Bethel Woods, the iconic location of Woodstock Music Festival back in 69′.
What is Mysteryland?
Mysteryland isn’t just an electronic music festival—it’s an experience. Mysteryland is famous for encouraging an artistic journey, providing a stimulating environment to inspire and thrill its guests. On the camping grounds, you’ll see dozens of street performers, art installations, and spectacular shows staged in bizarre ways. In addition to performances, the festival invites dozens of vendors to take part in the festival, offering unique cuisines, products, and services to Mysteryland ticket holders. Essentially, there’s no way to predict what you’ll see or experience at Mysteryland (but I think that’s the point). At night, the festival will turn its attention to world renown DJs. The Mysteryand 2014 line-up has yet to be revealed, but the festival will be securing some incredible EDM artists (past DJ sets at Mysteryland Chile & Mysteryland Netherlands included Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Laidback Luke, and several others). This festival has been wildly successful in Europe, and it’s about time the magic comes to the states. And did I mention it takes place on Woodstock grounds? How to Attend Mysteryland 2014:
First of all, get tickets while they are still cheap. Mysteryland 2014 tickets go on sale at early bird prices on December 12th, 10AM EST. At the official Mysteryland Ticket Store, there are tons of ticket options to best suit you, your friends, and the exact experience you are wanting to have. Go for a weekend of roughing it, or just one day packed with music, art, and adventure–the choice is yours (Bethel Woods, the official location of Mysteryland 2014, is only a 2 hour drive from downtown NYC). In order to make the most out of Mysteryland 2014, I personally suggest buying a weekend pass. For a Saturday only pass (at the early bird price) you’re paying 109$. But for two days (at the early bird price), you’re paying 159$. For just fifty dollars more, you get another full festival day. And once the line-up is released, you don’t want to regret not buying a 50$ ticket to see one of your favorite artists.
I will be purchasing the Nomad Weekend Pass, with plans to camp on an off-site location. In my opinion, this may be the cheapest way to do it. There are several ways to attend Mysteryland 2014, but there’s a few things you need to know before you decide to do it.
What you should know before buying your Mysteryland 2014 tickets:
This is a 21+ event, without any exceptions. Every year, Mysteryland sets up camp on beautiful grounds around the globe. The festival invites cheerful, creative, and energetic people to take part in an exchange of unforgettable experiences. Mysteryland is centered around a central philosophy: Festival Soul. Mysteryland relies heavily on local participation and interaction, giving a lot of attention to the local surroundings and culture.
That being said, if you’re just looking to attend a typical electronic music festival, I would say Mysteryland 2014 may not be for you. For that kind of experience, I would say you’d be better served at a festival such as Electric Daisy Carnival or Electric Zoo. Mysteryland may be the longest running electronic music festival, but the festival itself involves so much more. All across the grounds, people are encouraged to watch and take part in various performances—acrobats on tightrope, belly dancers, and painters—the grounds will be filled with inspiring art. It’s no coincidence that Mysteryland 2014 will be the first festival to inhabit the hallowed grounds of Woodstock. Because the festival is dedicated to bringing a wide range of art and music to its ticket holders, it makes sense that Mysteryland is the next in line to uphold the fame of Bethel Woods.
If you have an unmatched love for music, art, and adventurous thrills, Mysteryland 2014 will be the absolute best way to spend Memorial Day weekend.
