Ryan Field Section Breakdown
Ryan Field follows a very basic pattern where section 101 starts on the East side of the stadium, and the numbers move consecutively from to left up until section 136. There are only two levels, with the 200 level only sitting above the 100 level on the west side of the stadium. Nearly all the seating at Ryan Field is bleacher, meaning no chair backs.
The only major wrinkle at Ryan Field is that the Northwestern Wildcats sideline varies game to game, so you need to check with the school to see where their bench will be.
Northwestern Student Sections
The student sections at Ryan Field are located in sections 111-113. You must present a Northwestern WildCARD ID to gain access to the student areas, so you will not find any tickets to these sections available on the secondary market. Like most college football student sections, the sections are general admission, meaning the earlier you arrive the better your seat.
Northwestern Premium Seating
There aren’t too many premium seating locations at Ryan Field. In fact, there are only two, the Box Seats and Wildcat Den.
The Box Seats are located between the 20 yard in rows 18-21. They are some of the only seats with chairbacks in the entire stadium, and the height from the field is perfect for viewing all the action.
The Wildcat Den is located just below the press box on the west side of the field. It is still outdoor seating, but they are protected from the elements on three sides (the press box above, windscreens on each side) and radiant heat is provided during the late fall games. The seats in this area have chairbacks and include in seat waiter service.
Visiting Team Fan Sections
As previously mentioned, Ryan Field’s close proximity to Chicago makes it very popular for fans of the visiting team. The designated visitors sections are in 134-135 and 234-235, although fans of the opposing team can be found throughout the stadium on game day.
Parking & Tailgating at Ryan Field
Parking is pretty limited at Ryan Field. Only season ticket holders are permitted to park at the field on game days. If you aren’t a season ticket holder, here are the best resources we found on parking and tailgating.
Best Seats at Ryan Field
Because of the size of the stadium, there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. Having said that, the Box Seats in between the 20 yard lines are truly the best seats. Regardless, Ryan Field is one of the most intimate settings in the Big Ten.
