12 Album Releases to Look Forward to In 2018

Because we love to be the bearers of good news, we’re here to let you know about some upcoming album releases in 2018 that we are very excited about. In the near future, fans will finally be treated to new offerings from Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Vampire Weekend, and more. And, keep in mind, new albums typically mean upcoming tour dates as well. So, without further adieu, here are some of the artists who will be dropping albums in 2018. We’ve only picked our favorites, so check out who made the cut below.


Ariana GrandeSweetener

For the Dangerous Woman follow-up, Ariana Grande has tapped the likes of Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj, and Pharrell, who has a hand in several of the album’s tracks. Recently, Grande revealed she revamped and rejuvenated an old Beyonce demo, whose “hook was so dreamy, it had to find a home”. Sweetener will also include released singles “No Tears Left to Cry”, “God Is A Woman”, and a to-be-released track titled for her boyfriend/now fiance Pete Davidson.

Death Cab for CutieThank You For Today

One of the last remaining standards of indie music, Death Cab for Cutie have announced their ninth studio album, the 10-track Thank You For Today. Though this will be the first new album since Dave Depper and Zach Rae joined the band, DCFC will also be returning to Kintsugi producer Rich Costey. So far, DCFC have shared the neo-psychedelic “Gold Rush” and “Autumn Love”, a ballad highly reminiscent of Plans and Narrow Stairs.

Meghan TrainorTreat Myself

The M-Train can officially start getting pumped for Meghan Trainor’s third studio album Treat Yourself, whose title track was shared along with the announcement. In typical Trainor fashion, “Treat Yourself” is a fun-loving, bass-driven single that works as perfect pregame music to a night out. Treat Myself will include already released singles “”Let You Be Right,” “Can’t Dance,” “No Excuses” and “All The Ways.”

Nicki MinajQueen

Nicki Minaj

It’s finally here, the return of Nicki Minaj, who seems to really be embracing her Queen-like sensibilities for this upcoming album release. Back in April, Minaj dropped the searing “Chun-Li” and bouncy “Barbie Tingz”, two instant classics within the Minaj catalog. Now, Nicki is slated to headline Jay-Z’s Made in America music festival, along with Meek Mill and Post Malone. Though little is known about who will appear on Nicki Minaj’s Queen, another Ariana Grande collaboration is rumored to surface.

Paul McCartneyEgypt Station

Recorded in L.A, Sussex, and finally the iconic Abbey Road Studios, Paul McCartney’s Egypt Station took two years to create, and was headed by producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Foo Fighters). Though Paul McCartney’s touring band is primarily the foundation of the new LP, Egypt Station features a lot of the former Beatle playing the instruments himself, such as on the track “Confidante”. So for those who thought Paul McCartney was retiring any time soon, Egypt Station will force you to stand corrected.

Lenny KravitzRaise Vibration

Set for a September release, Raise Vibration is the answer to a dry spell, a dream, a realization that Lenny Kravitz could only do what Lenny Kravitz does: rock, be funky, and play guitar. Raise Vibration features, as usual, Kravitz playing most of the instruments himself, with longtime guitarist Craig Ross the only collaborator. From power-trio rock, to psychedelic funk, to country, Kravitz claims Raise Vibration is his “deepest” body of work to date.

Carrie UnderwoodCry Pretty

Now lauded as one of the most successful country artists today, Carrie Underwood is getting ready to release yet another incredible album of tracks worthy of her belting voice. Cry Pretty will include “The Champion” (featuring Ludacris) and the power ballad title track. “The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back,” Underwood wrote. “It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It’s emotional. It’s real. And it ROCKS!”

The 1975A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships

The 1975’s highly anticipated follow-up to 2016’s mighty, albeit long-winded i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it will arrive sometime in October, and include already released singles “Give Yourself A Try” and “Love It If We Made It”. Ranging from bouncy, 80’s inspired synth-pop to sweltering, politically charged pop-rock, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships finds The 1975 in a place void of fear and pretension.

Carly Rae Jepsen

This past October, Canadian pop-star Carly Rae Jepsen told a New Yorker Festival audience that she’d already written over 80 songs for the follow-up to 2015’s EMOTION. The singer has previously hinted that the new album will have a disco vibe, a statement which was followed up, two months later, by Jepsen changing her Instagram bio to what fans are speculating may be lyrics from an upcoming single. Her bio now reads: “When you move it’s like a disco darling – all my dreams come true.” Now, since Jepsen has been added to the Lollapalooza line-up, we are hoping to hear more of her new album soon.

Rihanna fans are reeling with the information they received just a week ago. Rihanna hard at work on her ANTI follow-up, a dancehall focused record. For over a year now, Rihanna has been working with Jamaican producers and musicians, summoning over 500 samples to help bring to life a record that will celebrate Rihanna’s Caribbean roots. Though little else is known about who is involved in Rihanna’s upcoming dancehall album, one source suggested that Supa Dups, the veteran dancehall producer behind recent hits like Drake’s “Controlla,”, is one of many minds at work for the star’s LP.

Anderson .Paak

California native Anderson .Paak, who first woke the industry by appearing on nearly every track of Dr. Dre’s Compton, is getting ready for another incredible year of record releases. First, according to a lit Dre, Paak’s new solo record is titled Oxnard Ventura, and will include already released singles ” Bubblin” and “Til It’s Over”. The Free Nationals have revealed some of their impressive guest list, which includes Kali UchisDaniel Caesar, Mac Miller, and potentially T.I as well.

Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend

Supposedly titled Mitsubishi Macchiato, the new Vampire Weekend album was confirmed by frontman Ezra Koenig to be 94.5% done. But does this refer to the writing, recording, or release? We think it could be awhile longer before we get the new Vampire Weekend album in full, but considering we didn’t think it would happen in the first place, we’re just happy updates keep coming. Vampire Weekend is slated to perform two nights in Ojai this Summer, where we hope tracks from the new album will be debuted.
