It’s been five years since The Killers released their last album, 2012’s Battleborn. At the start of the summer, The Killers revealed that their forthcoming album, Wonderful Wonderful, will be out September 22nd. The announcement was paired with the release of the album’s lead single, a braggadocious, glam-rock song titled “The Man“. This song led fans to believe that Wonderful Wonderful would be reminiscent of 2008’s Day & Age, but that opinion began to waver at the release of their second single, “Run for Cover”.
“Run for Cover” has been described as a “pedal to the floor” single, a song which calls back to the earliest iterations of The Killers. This makes a lot of sense, considering the song itself is over a decade old, unlike the rest of Wonderful Wonderful which was written and recorded over the last year and a half. “Run for Cover” had to undergo a make-over of sorts in order to access its full potential as a song, in addition to signaling that The Killers is a relevant rock band, capable of keeping up with the times while still doing what they do best. Just yesterday (Aug. 22), The Killers revealed spooky visuals for their second single. Check out the “Run for Cover” video below:
Last weekend, The Killers released a second video for ‘The Man’ – with the new clip promoting the upcoming boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. These music videos and singles are just the beginning of what will be an incredibly busy year for The Killers, who have already announced a 2018 North American tour in support of Wonderful Wonderful.
