Ellie Goulding’s fourth album, the first since 2015’s Delirium, is coming out sometime this year. On March 6th, Goulding shared the first single, a raw, profound piano ballad titled “Flux“. The song, being about “the one who got away”, revisits the rawness we originally saw in Goulding, the powerful yet vulnerable vocals behind her career-changing cover of Elton John’s “Your Song.”
Though Goulding aligned herself with the EDM-pop genre very early on in her career, there are other signs pointing to a more diverse, folk influenced follow-up to Delirium.
Just this week (Mar. 12) Goulding took to The Late Show to perform a stripped-down rendition of “Close to Me”. The original track features production from Diplo and a verse from Swae Lee, but with the addition of tender piano parts and beautifully intertwined acoustic guitars, Goulding completely transformed the song. You can check out the video of Ellie Goulding leading a spirited, anthemic folk rendition of “Close to Me” below.
Since Ellie Goulding has increased her presence in the public as of late, fans are beginning to wonder; is Goulding’s new album coming out soon? And if so, Will Ellie Goulding tour in 2019?
We do know that Ellie Goulding is amongst the bill of performers scheduled for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2019, which will also feature Stormzy, Billie Eilish, Vampire Weekend, Two Door Cinema Club, and others. And considering there are still plenty of music festivals lineups to be announced, we wouldn’t be surprised if more opportunities to see Ellie Goulding come to fruition.
Though the title and official release date have yet to be announced, we do know that Ellie Goulding’s fourth studio album will be out sometime this year. And considering her past history of promoting her records, we think Ellie Goulding will tour in 2019. Goulding has been in the industry for over a decade now, and we can’t wait to see what the 32-year old artist comes out with next.
